Musculoskeletal Rehab Services
Functional rehabilitation combines various techniques in an attempt to return an injured athlete or worker to an optimal level of performance (AAPMR)
Soft Tissue Mobilization (STM)
A form of manual therapy where hands-on techniques are applied to the muscles, ligaments & fascia to break adhesions and optimize function. I have undergone years of formal training and hands-on experience to address muscle deficiencies in various ways to bring pain relief and return the client to functioning.
Techniques may include but are not limited to Positional Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Acupressure, Instrumented Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), Myofascial Release, etc.
Cupping Therapy
A practice where the therapist places special cups on the skin to create suction. This causes the tissue beneath the cup to be drawn up & swell causing an increase in blood flow to affected areas. Enhanced blood flow under the cups drains impurities and toxins away from the healthy tissues and organs towards the surface for elimination. This may help with musculoskeletal pains such as back or neck pain as well as nerve impingement issues such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
Therapeutic Exercise & Stretching
Therapeutic Exercise is the systematic and planned performance of body movements or exercises which aim to improve and restore physical function.
The focus of therapeutic exercises is on regaining flexibility, strength, and endurance related to specific problems which limit your ability to perform your activities of daily living.
Sports & Injury Specific Taping
Also known as Kinesiology Taping, it involves placing strips of specialized tape on your body in specific directions to help improve your mobility and support your joints, muscles, and tendons. In addition, it is used to facilitate motion and inhibit pain & spasm.
Kinesiology Taping is also thought to realign joint positions and may be useful in remodeling collagen tissues, such as in scar management.
Dry Needling
A procedure where a thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and treats underlying muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.
Unlike acupuncture, which is based on Eastern Medicine, Dry Needling is rooted in Western Medicine, through the evaluation of pain patterns, postural & movement impairments, functional & orthopedic testing.
